"So, no roses or peonies? — None. — And no currant bushes? — No, no garden pastorals. — So everything is modern? — Yes, and you'll be surprised by the scale." Just as the clients wanted — young, curious, with an electric car in the garage, their dream was realized in a contemporary minimalist garden.
Landscape architects see space in their own way. Therefore, the mood and quality of a garden are determined not by its size, but by the idea and technological sophistication.
A lively part of a cottage village. The corner location suggested "inviting" the forest onto the plot. We fought to restore the natural cover — and it worked. We only added young cedars, shade-loving rhododendrons, lingonberry and blueberry patches, as well as "firefly" lamps that delight children. Parents are pleased that the lighting has dimming and control features.
In the end, the family got a green living room convenient for everyone. There are many corners: to settle at the dining table, to retreat with a book in a chair, to cook outdoors, to play ball, to set up a picnic on the lawn, to sit by the fire. All segments are moved to the boundaries, which worked to our advantage: the garden looks larger than its actual size.
The flora lives distinctively, growing freely, without inner contradictions or burdensome handling. The garden welcomes Karelian junipers, thyme, and pebbles, drops black cones on whitewashed boards, fills the veranda with the sun, and invites action or contemplation via its geometry.
