Given: a 2-acre plot with the chaos of a wild forest and the order of rational house architecture.
Task: connect these two elements.
Solution:
— preserve the luxury of clean space and dense planting with paths,
— create a striking entrance with an impressive wide alley of columnar poplars,
— separate the technical area for staff with a separate entrance,
— landscape the area near the guest house and even create a garden within a garden.
We used circles in almost all elements of the landscaping: the geometry of the fruit garden and its pond, the shape of the hill and lawns in the private areas between the owners' house and the guest house. The soft lines softened the overall brutal character of the architecture.
We also enclosed the mini-garden with a summer kitchen in a perfect circle. The result is a kind of refuge that is not visible to garden visitors. Inside, we left tall birch trees and planned three zones: barbecue, fire pit, and dining area.
The garden gains its sacredness from the attention paid by the architect to individual elements. This is precisely the example where details make all the difference. The round pond surrounded by trees resembles a magical spring, transforming the garden into a place for reflection and solitude, and harvest into a ritual. A stylized aqueduct distributes the flows and sounds of water throughout the territory, reminiscent of the turbulent icy rivers of the local mountains. Even the children's playhouse and playground look almost primitive — made of charred and «weathered» wood.
