This garden will not mentor you; instead, it will allow you to be who you are and do as you please: pick berries, lounge on the grass, play badminton, or admire the stunning Karelian stones.
The English have a saying: 'Overdressed and in the wrong place' . Many gardens become “overdressed” as a result of the well-meaning efforts of their masters. Forest ½ is definitely off this list. The plot is unusual, featuring two houses, towering pine trees and two forest areas.
To play with this unique forest territory, we split the site into two. One was left unaltered, overgrown with moss, blueberries and cranberries. The other was cleared, and islands of microclover grass and forest meadows were arranged. Between the two zones, adults find a place for quiet walks and inner reflection — children, a place to run free and pick berries.
The trees in this garden show their uniqueness and don’t require any decorations. The semi-shade plants of the undergrowth make the forest look fantastic. So restraint helps to get away from the future and to get a concise but delightful look.
The clients determined the geometry of the large lawn — its dimensions match those of a professional badminton court. When the match is played, this sunny location feels fantastic with loungers for the winners. Afterward, the players can return to their houses, which are hidden from each other behind a hill with Karelian stones, graminaceous plants, and pine trees in the center.
