The magic of the Scandinavian garden® lies in the coherence of the environment — an environment we shape through details. Even a small space has a favorite spot for everyone. The concept plays on contrast — between the clean lines of the path, the sculptural terrain, and the raw emotions that wild nature awakens.
The garden was created as part of the MR residential quarter and is located in northwestern Moscow. The architecture was handled by the UNK architects team. The concept is built around an intricate silhouette — one that weaves through every signature feature of the garden. It dictates the shape of the central square, the arc of the water body, and the motion of the ribbon across the pergola.
The garden was conceived around the insight that high-rise environments rarely make people feel at ease. They need a feeling of protection — a place that brings comfort, seclusion, and a profound sense of calm. The site was too compact for a traditional roof, so we got creative — using other elements to provide the same sense of enclosure and comfort.
The yard was shady and compact — a real challenge to work with. It was important to turn it into a striking space that complemented the architecture around it while still carrying our signature Scandinavian style — creating a place that would become a genuine asset for residents.
We brought in a long ribbon of light — a piece of sculpture in its own right — along with plants that flourish in shade, and a canopy with inviting swings. The misting system here plays a significant role. It cools the air, awakens curiosity, and gently raises the question we want our garden to ask: 'Where does the forest end, and where does my home truly begin?'
